Clinical Quality and Governance
Our centres are registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission and monitored in accordance to compliance with the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety under the Health & Social Care Act 2012 and associated regulations. They are also accredited to meet the ISO9001 quality standard.
MESL has robust mechanisms, systems and processes in place at a local operational and corporate level to to meet national NHSE service specifications and we assess and monitor compliance to regulatory and clinically recognised practice guidelines from national bodies including the Society of Radiotherapy, NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) and under the regulatory body IRMER (Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations.
We ensure safe clinical and operational practices are implemented and maintained in all our centres. This includes the recruitment and ongoing development of appropriately qualified and skilled staff for the delivery of high standards of clinically effective care. We evaluate and undertake regular audit of compliance and clinical practice and provide ongoing training.
Clinical consultants are registered with their national professional body and registered with the General Medical Council and their registration is monitored and validated annually. Clinical leads are recognised as world experts in their field. Our Radiographers and Physicists are accredited by the relevant professional body and are registered with the Health Professions Council and Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine.
We continuously strive to improve the service we offer. Feedback from our patients is therefore vitally important to us and we try our best to listen and learn. A patient satisfaction questionnaire is given to all patients and feedback received from this and patient testimonials is published on our centres websites. Members of the management team regularly meet with patients to discuss their experience of their clinical care and the facilities available in the centres.
We also have comprehensive processes in place for complaints in accordance with the principles of good complaint handling identified by the Parliamentary Health Services Ombudsman and are members of the Independent Sector Complaints Adjudication Service.
