We are proud to work in partnership with the NHS to provide access to the latest technology and deliver efficient patient focussed services. After working as a sub contractor with the NHS via Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for nearly 3 years, Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre has applied for NHS Standalone centre status.
The application process is underway with the Yorkshire and the Humber Specialised Commissioning Group (YHSCG) which has responsibility for commissioning of NHS services including specialist centres to a population of more than 1 million people. Successful designation by YHSCG will provide further evidence of excellence and high quality of patient care at the Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre and endorse that the services and treatment provided meet or exceed the processes and guidelines that are provided by the Radiosurgery Service within the NHS.
Applicants for designation who are successful receive interim designation. This would allow the Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre to accept direct referrals from the NHS. Patients would be able to choose Thornbury Radiosurgery Centre, which has the most experienced gamma knife surgery team in the UK and is located within the private hospital grounds of BMI Thornbury Hospital for their Out-Patient Consultations and Gamma Knife Treatment, free at the point of use and available to everyone based on need, not ability to pay.
