The 25th September 2013 was the fifth anniversary since opening the Thornbury Gamma Knife Centre. During this time in excess of 1250 patients have received Gamma Knife treatment making the centre one of the busiest in the UK. A wide range of indications have been treated including brain tumours, vascular and functional conditions with patients being referred from across the UK.
The centre has established a reputation for the excellence of the service it offers to NHS and private patients and has one of the most experienced clinical teams in the world. Feedback from patients continues to be overwhelmingly positive as can be seen here.
In marking the important milestone Lynne Brooks, Director said “We are all proud to continue to provide a service which offers significant advantages to patients. The team are to be congratulated for their ongoing professionalism and dedication. For the past five years Thornbury Gamma Knife Centre has provided much needed additional access to radiosurgery – when opened we were only the third such centre. Since then the use of radosurgery in the UK has grown rapidly but further capacity is still required to ensure access rates are improved”.
